Good morning Readers,
So I am excited today. Because there are a lot of goals to accomplish and new things starting. You need to be excited about change and not afraid of it.
I going to work for an non-profit incubator/accelerator in my country as an investment professional. I have rebooted efforts in my Startup because even with my many failures (or maybe because of), I have a clearer vision of the value proposition.
I have also undertaken to do 20 days of video journaling for my mental health support group, Mentally Awareness Nigeria Initiative, so catch that on their social media pages: @mentallyawareng
In addition, I have to take the right steps for my future, so planning out the next five years and sticking to the plan; masters, marriage, money matters etc.
You got to have high high hopes for a livingPanic! At the Disco
So with all these things on my plate time management is key, especially with the side hustles and hobbies. Which is why a daily journal and waking up early are two of the most power tools in my quiver.
Yes I know some people’s work or responsibilities makes an early to bed, early to rise lifestyle impossible but if you are not one of these people, give up the night owl title or restrict it to only those big ticket events – Trust me you won’t regret it.
There would be, as if by magic, more time to accomplish your goals. Before the sun is up you would have already cleared out the early morning tasks and easy wins .
As for the daily journaling, you should set time for it, early morning or before bed (I prefer using both) but ALSO add to it and refer to it as much as possible during the day.
The last thing I want to add on time management is watch what you do with dead time: time in-between activities.
I have a very severe addiction to reading fantasy, if left on-checked it can crowd into the time for other activities. And as good as reading is it just gives knowledge, wisdom and understanding but you haven’t really done anything yet.
So I had to give up the addiction cold turkey as opposed to my initial plan of using it as a reward, and replace the habit completely with writing and reading for my exams until my workload decreases. You may have to do the same.
